Police arrest Batman over assault and vandalism

POLICE have arrested a man dressed as Batman after three people were assaulted and a car was damaged near Newcastle.

According to news reports, ‘Batman’ attacked three men at a charity event at Orchard View Farm in Holmrook, near Gosforth, at the weekend.

The three men sustained minor injuries in the assault, which took place just before midnight on Saturday.

A red BMW car was damaged around the same time, with a scratch a metre long left on one of its doors.

A spokesperson for Cumbria police confirmed that a man had been detained in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police are also appealing for any information about the incident.
