Outcry in court as appeal on Kelly ruling refused

A JUDGE has refused permission for a High Court challenge over the Attorney-General’s refusal to back a new inquest into the death of Dr David Kelly.

The government weapons inspector died in July 2003, aged 59, and was judged to have taken his own life following a public inquiry.

Yesterday Mr Justice Nicolrefused Dr David Halpin permission to seek a ruling that the Attorney-General had acted “unlawfully and irrationally”.

There were cries of “shame” as the decision was announced.Later Mr Halpin said outside court: “I am disappointed. The Hutton inquiry had more holes than a Gruyere cheese.”
