The man, from London, is being questioned at a police station in south London following his arrest at 6.45am today.

Officers working as part of Operation Yewtree - the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse set up in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal - made the arrest, but Scotland Yard said it was not connected to the allegations made against the late BBC presenter.

Operation Yewtree is made up of three sub-investigations - one which looks specifically at Savile’s actions, one concerned with allegations against ‘Savile and others’ and a third which focuses on alleged complaints against people unconnected to the Savile investigations.

The man is the seventh person to be questioned as part of the operation, and the sixth under arrest. Others arrested in connection with the investigation include Max Clifford, Dave Lee Travis, Gary Glitter and comedian Freddie Starr.
