Now Cameron has to defend No 10 office

DAVID Cameron yesterday stood by his embattled Defence Secretary as Labour attempted to drag his office into the scandal by asking about links with one of the Prime Minister’s closest advisers.

At Prime Minister’s Questions, back-bencher Alun Michael asked if Mr Cameron knew that one of his political advisers, Gabby Bertin, had previously worked with Adam Werritty, whose relationship with Liam Fox has come under scrutiny.

Following the exchanges, Ms Bertin confirmed she had worked for Dr Fox’s controversial Atlantic Bridge charity, although she said she was not there when Mr Werritty was its director. “He was somebody I knew when I worked for Liam,” she said. “Adam was close to Liam, there is nothing much more to say.”

In response to a question by Labour MP Nia Griffith, Mr Cameron said he would consider providing a list of meetings of ministers and No 10 staffers with Mr Werritty.
