No 10 brings in Scottish ‘voice’
FORMER Scottish journalist Christine Jardine has been brought in to the Downing Street machine as the coalition government prepares for a future independence referendum.
Ms Jardine, who has worked for a Scottish newspaper and BBC Scotland as well as standing as a Lib Dem candidate, has been recruited to provide a stronger link between David Cameron’s office and the Scotland Office.
The move is a tacit admission that there has been a lack of Scottish voices around the prime minister.
With the coalition still coming to terms with an SNP majority in Scotland a decision has been made to strengthen Mr Cameron’s team.
