Natalie McGarry wears wedding dress for House of Commons vote

The Glasgow East MP had just had her marriage to partner David Meikle blessed in the St Mary’s Undercroft chapel before the vote.

However, keen to make a vote critical on the government’s record on disability employment she walked through the division lobbies in the Commons for the ballot.

She then posed for pictures with fellow women MPs who were marking the contribution of female parliamentarians over the decades.

Natalie McGarry was elected in the SNP landslide of May 2015 but is currently sitting as an independent having resigned from the party.

She faces allegations of financial irregularities in relation to her role at the Women for Independence campaign group.

The Glasgow MP also face a police investigation into financial irregularities at the Glasgow SNP regional association.

McGarry denies any wrongdoing in both cases.

Writing on her Facebook page on Thursday, she said: “Absolutely privileged to be bale to have our marriage blessed by Father Pat in the regular mass on Wednesday in St Mary’s Undercroft.

“Thanks to all well-wishers. Yes, I went through [the] division lobby in my dress.

“No matter what any of us are doing, we should always support those in our communities with disability issues”.
