Murder charge after man dies to protect dog

A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with murdering a farmer who died trying to stop his Land Rover being driven away.

Ashley Squires, 22, of Styon Road, Leicester, was to go before Nuneaton magistrates also charged with conspiracy to steal cars. He is accused of killing Michael Boffey on August 20. Mr Boffey, 61, of Grange Farm, Burton Hastings, died of head injuries. He thought his dog was in the vehicle.
