MPs learn of £1bn software piracy

FIRMS in the UK are losing nearly a £1 billion a year to software piracy, despite a fall in the use of software rip-offs, MPs were warned yesterday.

The latest figures from the IDC survey of 108 countries were made public at a Westminster last night.

The figures show that although there was a fall of 1 per cent in the use of pirated software across the UK, the amount of revenue lost is nearly a 1 billion – 925 million.
