MPs back booze price plan

THE House of Commons health committee today backed minimum pricing of alcohol.

It said the drinks industry was dependent on hazardous drinkers for three-quarters of its sales and if people drank responsibly, sales would plummet by 40 per cent.

It said it was a myth that minimum pricing would unfairly penalise moderate drinkers.
