Motorists ‘slow at owning up’

Honesty appears not be the best policy among some motorists, according to a survey.

A total of 7 per cent would drive away if they accidentally scraped an empty parked car in a quiet side road, the poll by breakdown service Autonational Rescue found.

A further 7 per cent said they would make an effort to find the vehicle’s owner, but if they could not do so, would just leave.
