Motorists move to self service

MORE motorists are doing their own car servicing but most are not sure they can make a good job of it, a survey shows.

As many as 35 per cent of car owners now carry out their own servicing, the poll by automotive parts company Kwik-Fit found.

But 69 per cent said they were not confident of servicing their own vehicle

The poll of 2,000 UK adults revealed that people were more confident of their servicing ability if they had an older car.

As many as 37 per cent of those with cars from 1999 or earlier felt their vehicle was simple enough to self-service.
