Missing football journalist Kevin McCarra found safe and well

The Scottish sports journalist Kevin McCarra has been found after going missing in France.

McCarra had been staying in Avignon while visiting the country to watch games at Euro 2016.

According to reports on STV he was seen coming out of the Hotel Mignon, on 12 rue Joseph Vernet in Avignon on Thursday at 6.40pm.

He then wandered neighbouring streets before his last sighting on CCTV at 7.06pm.

He was due to attend the Iceland v Hungary game at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Saturday evening

His wife Susan Stewart issued pleas on Twitter for any information regarding his whereabouts before he was found

McCarra is a former football writer with Scotland on Sunday. He later worked for the Times before becoming the chief football correspondent for the Guardian then later returning to the Times.
