Missing financial adviser feared to have come to harm, say police

Detectives believe a missing financial adviser who owes tens of thousands of pounds has come to harm after she vanished nearly five months ago.

Lynda Spence has not been seen since 13 April, when she left her parents’ house in Glasgow Harbour. She sent a text to her mother the next day saying she had travelled to London, but her parents reported her missing a few weeks later.

Up to 40 officers are working on the case, and they issued a fresh appeal yesterday on what would be Ms Spence’s 28th birthday.

Det Supt Alan Buchanan said: “We believe that there are people who have information about Lynda and about what has happened to her and, for whatever reason, they have not contacted the police or provided any information to the inquiry team.

“I am acutely aware that some people do not wish to speak directly to police and I would make a direct appeal to those people to examine their conscience, get in touch and please pass on any information or details to us.

“I know for a fact that Lynda’s parents, who are distraught at their daughter’s disappearance, will be able to find some kind of solace when we can tell them what has happened to their daughter.

Ms Spence ran a business, Fraser Developments, which mainly arranged mortgages. But it recently got into trouble when several deals fell through.
