Ministers contacted over gay marriage more than Scottish independence referendum

MORE than three times as many people have contacted ministers on gay marriage as have done so on the independence referendum.

Ministers said last night that they had so far received more than 19,000 responses to the independence consultation, which closes later today. But more than 60,000 people aired their views on the consultation on same-sex marriage.
