Manet picture to make £30m
A MANET painting, described as one of the greatest self-portraits in art history, is expected to fetch up to £30 million at auction.
Self-Portrait With A Palette is one of only two existing works that Edouard Manet, the father of Impressionism, painted of himself.
The image was painted in 1878, when Manet, who mentored a whole generation of artists including Monet and Renoir, was enjoying unprecedented critical acclaim.
The masterpiece will be auctioned at Sotheby's Impressionist and Modern Art sale in London on 22 June.
