Man dies in bid to rescue son

A 60-YEAR-OLD man died while trying to rescue his son after he was swept into the sea, police said last night.

The men had been fishing on a Cornish beach when the 27-year-old son was swept into the sea yesterday morning.

But as his father tried to pull him to safety with a lifebelt, he too was pulled in. Both men were pulled from the water by coastguards about half an hour later but the father had died.
