Man arrested after girl stabbed to death

A 12-YEAR-OLD girl was stabbed to death at a house in Manchester yesterday. The victim was found after police were called to a house in the Cheetham Hill area of the city at about 3.45pm.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Greater Manchester Police said a post-mortem examination has not yet taken place and the girl has not yet been formally identified. Chief Superintendent John O'Hare said: "This is a shocking incident which has had a dramatic effect on the family and will no doubt cause concern in the local community. We're not looking for anyone else in this matter."
