Bush was arrested following a nationwide search for the girl.

He was remanded in custody and told by Judge Peter Kelson that he will appear again at Sheffield Crown Court on September 19 for a plea and case management hearing.

A provisional trial date was fixed for November 25. There was no application for bail.

Bush stood in the dock flanked by a security officer for the 10-minute hearing. Wearing a navy blue T-shirt and with a pair of glasses on top of his head, he spoke only to confirm his name.

Bush is charged with one count under the Child Abduction Act 1984.

He is also charged with making off without paying for two hotel rooms in Melton Mowbray, avoiding payment of £60.
