Jimmy Savile - The Punch and Judy Show is written by Nick Awde, a writer for The Stage, and will be premiered in the capital this summer.

The show will be a “dark, irreverent” take on the scandal surrounding Savile, who is compared to the show’s Punch character.

The show’s synopsis reads: “The dark, irreverent tale of how the cheekiest chappy in the land, Sir James Wilson Vincent Savile OBE, fixed the nation.

“Just like our other great national treasure, ever-loveable rogue Mr Punch, Mr Savile punches his way to the top and, lethal cigar in hand, gets away with... everything!”

Police working on Operation Yewtree are still investigating hundreds of historic offences relating to Savile.
