iPhone to get even thinner

APPLE has confirmed the launch of the next generation iPhone, saying it will have a clearer screen and be noticeably thinner than previous incarnations.

Chief executive Steve Jobs kicked off Apple's annual conference for software developers yesterday by discussing improvements in the influential touch-screen device, but stopped short of disclosing the price or release date.

Mr Jobs did say, however, that the new device would be "the biggest leap since the original iPhone". It will be less than 10mm thick – around 2mm thinner than the previous iPhone.
