Infrared drone helps combat Manchester fire

Firefighters in Manchester have been battling a huge city centre fire throughout the night, but were able to extinguish the flames thanks to an infrared aerial camera drone.

The fire, at the former CWS building near Victoria railway station, brought the city centre to a standstill.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said on Twitter: “Firefighters trying to prevent the fire spreading.

“Our air unit is really helping us fight this fire. Please avoid the area.”

More than 50 firefighters battled the rooftop blaze, but there are no reports of any casualties.
