Hunt for knife gang who stabbed boy, 15, to death

THE hunt was under way today to trace a knife-wielding gang of youths who stabbed a teenager to death.

Alex Mulumbu, 15, was stabbed in the heart after he got off a bus in Lambeth, south London, at 11pm on Thursday night.

The gang rowed with Alex and two of his friends before splitting up, disappearing into the nearby estate, arming themselves and returning for the attack.

They fled as Alex lay dying in Black Prince Road. His distraught friends managed to flag down a passing car and get him to St Thomas' hospital where he died.

The suspects are believed to be a group of around ten black men in their late teens and wearing dark clothing.

Detectives are not certain of the motive, but believe the attackers may have been local because they were able to disappear and arm themselves so quickly.

The distraught father of the teenager, who was from a Christian family in Zaire who moved to England, said he was appalled at Britain's knife culture.

Kamondo Mulumbu said: "Knives are out of control. Most young people are walking around with them.

"Alex was a good boy, he had nothing at all to do with knives."
