Hope of pay boost for apprentices

SMALLER firms would back an increase in the minimum wage for apprentices, currently £2.60 an hour, according to a new report.

The Federation of Small Businesses said a survey of 3,000 firms showed many expected a slight increase in sales in the coming months, and a small balance were hoping to recruit staff rather than cut jobs.
