Home repossessions at 14-year-high in 2009

FIGURES today were set to show that the number of people who lost their homes reached a 14-year high during 2009.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders was expected to reveal that 48,000 homes were repossessed, the highest number since 1995. But the figure is down on the original forecast of 75,000, after the predicted flood of repossessions never emerged.
