Holidaymakers fritter foreign currency

Hordes of holidaymakers fritter foreign currency away on unnecessary purchases just to use all their money up.

Two in three tourists use all the money they take away with them, a survey by travel agent sunshine.co.uk found.

Of those who spend all their foreign currency, 88 per cent admitted to “frittering it” on not-really-wanted items.

Others said they just “couldn’t be bothered” to change the money back, while the average amount spent on unnecessary items was £150.

The poll involved 2,168 people who had been abroad in the last 12 months.
