Up hits top spot at car awards

THE Volkswagen Up, a three-door hatchback, has been named car of the year in the annual What Car? magazine awards.

The Up combined “refinement, quality, space and economy”, said What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett.

He said: “It sets new standards for the £10,000 price bracket. It feels at home in town and copes admirably on the motorway – it is the right car for the time.”
