Headscarf history at despatch box

A 16-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl is believed to have become the first woman to wear a hijab while speaking at the despatch box in the House of Commons.

Sumaiya Karim, from Wokingham, Berkshire, was speaking during a debate on the national curriculum, as part of the Youth Parliament.
