Hardy fans fear holiday cottage plan

Dorset: Fans of Thomas Hardy have expressed fears over plans to turn his birthplace into a holiday cottage.

The Higher Bockhampton house was built by Hardy's grandfather. Hardy was born there in 1840 and wrote several early works, such as Under the Greenwood Tree, in the house.

Cheshire: A pilot suffered second degree burns after his light aircraft crashed in a forest.

The 52-year-old, from Merseyside, was injured after the crash near Delamere Forest last night, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
