Growing row over BA strike

BRITISH Airways cabin crew began a third day of their latest strike today as the war of words over the dispute intensified.

Unite accused the airline of misleading the public over the number of staff that turned up for work.

In an e-mail to staff on Saturday, BA chief executive Willie Walsh said 63 per cent of crew due to work on Saturday reported for duty – 6 per cent more than during the previous weekend's industrial action. He added that the airlines operations "had been strong".

However, Unite disputed the figures, claiming that more than 50 per cent of staff due to work joined the walk-out.

A union official said: "BA's claim that most crew are working is another distortion."
