Grenades find halts Gatwick flights

Air and rail travel was affected after workers discovered unexploded Second World War hand grenades near Gatwick airport yesterday.

The find was made by Network Rail staff working near the airport’s railway station. Outgoing flights were briefly halted and trains stopped while a bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion.
