Government says No to weekend elections

THE government has ruled out holding elections at weekends after a consultation found little evidence that it would boost turnout, justice minister Michael Wills told MPs yesterday.

He said the issue could be considered again if new evidence emerged. He also opened the door to the electorate casting votes via the internet.
