Generation Text hooked on mobiles

TEENAGERS are increasingly reliant on their mobile phones for organising their lives, a new study has revealed. Ninety-five per cent of "Generation Text" 16-24-year-olds regularly use the messaging system, sending an average of 100 texts a month, according to research by the Mobile Data Association. They are far more likely to text than call to arrange dates and meet up with friends so plans can be made without nosey parents listening in on their conversations.

The survey, commissioned by that mobile network O2, found teenagers spend an average 30 a month, or 400 a year, on their mobile - more than on any other form of entertainment, including TV, computers, stereos and radios.
