Gardeners urged to look out for birds

GARDENERS are being urged to take care when tidying their gardens, as the spring breeding season for birds is already under way.

Pruning and tidying plants, trees and hedges can affect the chances of breeding garden birds successfully rearing their young if nests are disturbed, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds warned.
