Gangster jailed for 19 years after police find arsenal

John Reilly, 65, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court, Scotland Yard said.

Officers tailing him found cocaine worth more than 300,000 after swooping as he sat in his car in north London.

When they searched a property he had been seen leaving earlier that day officers uncovered a startling haul of weapons. He had keys to the property in his pocket.

Among the arsenal were machine guns, shotguns, handguns, semi-automatic pistols, silencers and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Police searches uncovered almost 6kg of cocaine. They also found uniforms used by postal workers, cash and a money-counting machine

Reilly, of north London,

is believed to have links to the Adams family, dubbed the "A-team", who have a reputation for being at the top of organised crime.

Crime boss Terry Adams was jailed for seven years for money laundering in March after an operation involving police and MI5.

He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for each of 12 counts of possessing prohibited firearms, to run concurrently, plus two years for possessing ammunition without a certificate and ten years for conspiracy to supply cocaine, making a total of 19 years.

Reilly admitted the charges.
