Fuel price rises may put some off road

rises in the price of petrol could drive motorists off the roads for good, a survey claimed.

As many as 38 per cent of drivers said they would give up motoring entirely within a year if prices at the pumps rise at the rate as they have for the past year.

An increase of 14p or 15p a litre would lead to 85 per cent of drivers changing their lifestyles, the survey by car valuation company Glass.co.uk found.
