Freddie Mercury: Fans may have found secret grave

Mercury, who died of Aids in 1991, was cremated and his location was never revealed.

However, eagle-eyed fans believe they may have spotted a memorial plaque to the singer which could reveal his final resting place to be an unmarked grave in Kensal Green Cemetery, West London.

The plaque reads: “In Loving Memory of Farrokh Bulsara”. Bulsara was Mercury’s birth name, and the name he used growing up in Tanzania (then Zanzibar). He changed his name to Freddie Mercury when he joined Queen in 1970.

The plaque continues: “Pour Etre Toujours Pres De Toi Avec Tout Mon Amour”, which translates as “So I Can Always Be Close To You With All My Love”.

The memorial is signed ‘M’, which is believed to be a reference to Mercury’s one-time lover Mary Austin.

There are a number of theories as to Mercury’s final resting place. His former boyfriend Jim Hutton believes the ashes are in another London location, some believe they were returned to his Tanzanian birthplace, while some suggest that the ashes were left at Lake Geneva where Mercury lived.
