Flying Fox cost taxpayer £65,000 on business flights

Former defence secretary Liam Fox spent at least £65,000 flying around the world on government business, it was disclosed yesterday. A further £184,000 was spent on flights for his private office staff and special advisers, his successor, Philip Hammond, said in an answer to a written parliamentary question.

The MP and his staff spent £17,100 on accommodation abroad, Mr Hammond added. The costs only include travel from May last year until the end of August.

Dr Fox resigned last month following allegations that he invited his friend and best man, best man Adam Werritty, to meetings where none of his officials was present.
