Firms offered energy advice

COMPANIES were urged yesterday to cut their energy bills by up to a third in a move which could save British industry £3 billion.

The Carbon Trust offered to give free advice to firms which spend between 50,000 and 3 million a year on energy, including the services of an expert to draw up a plan.

Savings of between 20 and 30 per cent would be possible, especially as many companies were concerned about increases in energy bills, said the Trust.

A survey of businesses showed concerns about energy prices were highest in construction, manufacturing and hospitality.
