Faulty boiler led to child deaths
A SERIES of errors in installing and maintaining a gas boiler caused a carbon monoxide leak that led to the deaths of two children, a court in Corfu has heard.
Christianne Shepherd, seven, and her brother Robert, six, from Wakefield, Yorkshire, died after being overcome by fumes while on a family holiday in October 2006. Their father, Neil Shepherd, and his partner, Ruth Beatson, fell into a coma, but survived the poisoning.
Harry Rogers, a mechanical engineer, investigated the bungalow at the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel in Gouvia and said the boiler was "distressed" with parts missing.
