Father jailed for shaking son to death

Peterborough: A father was jailed for life for shaking his six-week-old son to death.

Polish national Ryszard Spiewak, 30, of Bretton, Peterborough, was sentenced to a minimum term of 16 years.

Piotr Spiewak had 10 fractured ribs, severe brain damage and had suffered a cardiac arrest. He died in hospital on 2 September, 2008.

Daniel Smith, 22, was killed with a single shot in Paddington, west London. Detectives believe it may have been a mistaken identity.
