Escaped cow that caused delays on M8 motorway is returned to its field

Traffic was held up eastbound on the M8 on Wednesday – due to a cow that had managed to find itself at the hard shoulder.

Traffic Scotland posted the news on its Twitter page at 2.46pm.

The tweet said: ‘#M8 Hazard. Police are holding traffic E/B at Harthill due to a cow that has managed to find itself at the hard shoulder. Updates as we get them.’

The situation was soon brought under control, however, and all lanes reopened after the cow was safely returned to its field.
