Enough to drive anyone to despair – £100,000 Bentley lost to floodwaters

IT would be enough to reduce many a grown man to tears – a £100,000 Bentley Continental GT is swamped by the rising water level in a flooded street.

But lottery winner Robert Johnson, 65, from Gloucestershire, shrugged off the loss, and bought himself a new Mercedes.

“I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s just a flooded Bentley,” he said. “I’ve gone out and got a new car. Job done.”

The management consultant won £5 million in 2008.

Neighbours described him as a “flash Harry” but “one of the nicest people you will ever meet”.
