Emergency declared at airport

AN EMERGENCY was declared after a Glasgow-bound flight developed problems just before take-off.

George Best Belfast City Airport was put on full alert after the plane experienced technical difficulties. The alert involved the early-morning Flybe flight to Glasgow.

Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes and airport buildings were temporarily cordoned off.

No-one was injured in the incident and the 61 passengers and four crew walked off the aircraft.

A number of flights were diverted as the precautionary emergency response was under way.

The flight later flew out to Glasgow with no reports of any difficulties, a spokesman for Flybe said later.
