Emeli Sande takes best female Brit Award

SCOTTISH singer-songwriter Emeli Sande has scooped two Brit Awards, including best British female solo artist and best album for Our Version Of Events, in a triumphant night for the Aberdeenshire star.

The 25-year-old beat Jessie Ware and the late Amy Winehouse to bag the top female gong.

Our Version Of Events was the best-selling album in the UK last year, shifting 1.39m units.
