Ed Miliband rejects PM plan to block Scot MP votes

ED Miliband has warned that Westminster faces a “huge danger” of learning the “wrong lessons” from the referendum campaign as he hit back at David Cameron’s after the Tory leader moved to block Scottish MPs from voting on England-only issues.

Mr Miliband talked about how 45 per cent of Scots had voted to “break up” the UK and felt they “had nothing to lose” as the first signs of a rift between the Labour leaders and Downing Street opened up on the Westminster response to the referendum result.

The Labour leader said that a radial package of devolution must be delivered with “no ifs and buts” as he told the Prime Minister to keep his referendum promise to Scotland.

He also rejected suggestions of an English Parliament saying he did not want a “new tier of politicians” and talked about the “wake up call” of the referendum, that saw the majority of people in the Labour stronghold of Glasgow vote Yes.

He said that the “establishment has got to understand the lessons” of the campaign and respond to calls for a fairer devolution deal for Scotland.
