Economy fillip expected

ECONOMIC figures due today were expected to show the pace of Britain's recovery was better than first forecast in the opening three months of 2010.

Hopes were building today that the revision of gross domestic product will show an upgrade on the initial lacklustre growth estimate of 0.2 per cent for the first quarter.
