Eco body defends reports

THE head of the global body that produces key reports to advise governments on climate change has defended the use of "grey literature", which is not published in scientific journals.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has come under fire after mistakes were found in its most recent assessment of global warming.

IPCC chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri said academic work by bodies including the International Energy Agency, the World Bank, governments and charities "cannot be ignored", but had to be examined.
