Drivers admit their footwear sins

Motorists are driving on slip roads in slippers and on high roads in high heels, according to a survey.

Some also take the controls wearing flip-flops, while others drive in bare feet, the poll by Confused.com found.

As many as 25 per cent have driven while wearing pyjamas, while 19 per cent of 25- to 34-year-olds consider their own driving habits are risky, the survey of 2,000 drivers showed.

As many as 10 per cent have driven in slippers, while 40 per cent of women admitted to driving in high heels.

The poll also found 27 per cent of men and 39 per cent of women had driven in flip-flops, while 22 per cent of men and 24 per cent of women have driven barefoot.

In addition, 10 per cent of women have put on make-up as they drove, while 15 per cent of men have had a shave at the wheel.
