Donation to charities drops off by a tenth

CHARITY donations fell by 10 per cent during 2009, a survey showed yesterday.

About 71 per cent of people said they gave money to a good cause during the year, donating an average of 110.20 each, according to Investec Private Bank. One in five said they had reduced their giving, while 11 per cent of people said they had increased their donations.
