Dead Gurkha’s proud family tradition

A SOLDIER killed in Afghanistan at the weekend had followed in the footsteps of his father and brother by becoming a Gurkha.

Rifleman Vijay Rai, 21, from 2nd Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, died when the checkpoint he had been guarding in the Nahr-e Saraj region of Helmand province was attacked with small arms fire on Saturday.
